Second Ward Councilwoman Beth Mason will officially announce her candidacy for mayor of Hoboken at a press conference Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m. at the Brass Rail, located at 135 Washington St.

Mason ran against councilpeople Peter Cammarano and Dawn Zimmer in a mayoral election in Hoboken last spring and came in third. Cammarano beat Zimmer in a runoff and won, but was arrested for alleged corruption several weeks later. Zimmer, who was council president, took over as acting mayor and is seeking a full term as mayor in a special election this November.

Beth is the first candidate to officially announce that she will take on Zimmer.

From her press release: "Beth's family, friends, supporters, business associates and fellow activists will be on hand as she enters the race. The councilwoman will make a statement and take questions at the event, which will be held on the second floor of the restaurant."

Great Decision. I know its tough to get up the energy to do this again Beth. Now we have a real choice. I for one am gratefu. Dawn's "people" and their pompous attitude of Dawn deserving this without a contest have gotten their just reward.
